MAIN STREETS ACROSS THE WORLD 2025
Cushman & Wakefield, a leading international commercial real estate consultancy firm, has published the 35th edition of its “Main Streets Across the World 2025” report, which focuses on the prime rental values of major shopping streets in the world’s most prestigious city centers. According to this year’s findings, New Bond Street in London has, for the first time, claimed the title of the world’s most expensive retail destination, surpassing strong competitors such as Via Montenapoleone in Milan and Upper Fifth Avenue in New York, with a rental value of €20,482 per square meter per year. This rise of New Bond Street is attributed to factors such as strong demand and limited supply in the area.
A general recovery trend has been observed across the global retail market. Rental growth was recorded in 58% of the tracked markets, with the global average rental growth reaching 4.2%. Among regional performances, the Americas led with the strongest growth rate of 7.9%, while Europe showed a steady increase of 4%. In the Turkish market, İstiklal Street — the country’s leading retail location — remained stable. As in the previous year, İstiklal Street held its 22nd position globally in 2025. In the European ranking, it also maintained its 36th position, unchanged from last year.
The overall assessment of the report confirms the resilience of prime retail destinations despite macroeconomic challenges. With easing inflationary pressures, rising real wages, and a recovery in international tourism, the positive momentum in main shopping streets is expected to strengthen further in the coming period. These findings underline the continued strategic importance of physical retail spaces, as they enable brands to establish deep and meaningful engagement with consumers.
