ISTANBUL HIGH STREETS 2023
The high level of retailer demand in 2022 is noteworthy in the high street market, which is dominated by İstanbul's most popular streets. With e-commerce on the rise during the last pandemic period, there was a prejudice that B&M would not be able to catch up with its former popularity. Despite all this, 2022 was a year in which the opposite was experienced with both high retailer and user demand for stores located on the high streets. The fact that the number of foreign visitors after the pandemic almost caught up with the prepandemic period is another reason for the rising demand. With the complete lifting of the mask bans in the second half of the year, the pandemic lost its impact on daily life and the increasing number of tourists manifested itself in increased footfall on the streets. On the other hand, while the economic effects of the pandemic continued, inflation, which increased further with the Russia-Ukraine war, was on the agenda of the whole world and Turkey. Although rising costs due to inflation and fluctuating exchange rates have affected the sector, it has been observed that significant occupancy rates have been reached on primary streets.
